Tomorrow’s million-strong city

With its wide open spaces, culture, quality of life and fast-growing economy and population, the Bordeaux conurbation has the ambition of carving out a place among the key European cities.

Creating a new territorial model in line with today’s economic and social changes and providing a good living environment for mobile executives is one of the priorities of our metropolitan project built around:

  • Developing exchanges and becoming the hub of south-west Europe,
  • Fostering knowledge transmission and business development through investments in the future, supporting initiatives and bringing the corporate and academic worlds closer together,
  • Living and consuming differently, while encouraging initiatives to reduce use of energy and resources,
  • Making sustainable use of space,
  • Favouring personal development by placing the emphasis on providing good living conditions and cultivating individual difference.

In a recent survey, 97% of inhabitants of the city declared they were satisfied with living here, up 4 points on the 1999 figure, and 91% considered the city to be "growing" or even "booming" (26%).
