Throughout its history, Bordeaux has had a resolutely international outlook. Many foreign-owned companies have come to Bordeaux over the last few decades.
Today the region is home to 400 international industrial businesses, a third of which are US owned. Between them these companies employ more than 30 % of the regions industrial workforce and include : Smurfit Kappa, Ford, IBM, Getrag, Serono, PNY.....

- Import : 10.5 billion €
The region is one of the top 3 exporters of : food products (vegetables and fruits), wine, chemical products, aeronautic and space construction products.
Primary imports include : aeronautic products, refined petrol products, pharmaceutical products, food and wine.
