In Aquitaine, the Health ICT sector is leading the way in France, thanks in particular to the companies based in the region (large groups, SMEs and very small enterprises) which represent 45% of the national market, and the decisive action of the regional authorities.

This has earned Aquitaine the position of N° 1 French region in health IT, with:

• Some 40 companies, including 3 international leaders in the sector: AGFA Healthcare, McKesson France, Siemens Health Services France
• 1,000 employees, 45% of the national workforce in the sector
• 52% of the public HIS market
• 44% of the private HIS market
• 52% of the healthcare centre management software market

Alongside the major international groups, most of which have their headquarters in Aquitaine, a fabric of specialised SMEs has been growing strongly in recent years. Backed by a network of subcontractors, integrators, accredited health service hosting companies...

Launched in 2011, the Aquitaine Health ICT Cluster is building on the existing synergy between the different regional players in the sector and consolidating the action taken over the last 4 years to develop the sector.

Its aim is to consolidate the region’s leadership in HIS and outpatient care and to encourage companies to take up significant positions on the e-health market.
