The needs of tomorrow’s motor industry are being met in the Bordeaux Region with high performance innovation in organisation, processes, technology and applications in the automotive sector.
The two major employers Ford Aquitaine industries and Getrag Ford Transmissions (GFT), are the area’s largest private industrial companies with 3, 500 employees.
Regional companies are creating leading edge products and processes in : airbags, light alloy casting, motor industry specific testing systems, anti collision radars and composite materials.
Worthy of particular mention is the work concerning the research and production of batteries for electric vehicles with the backing of SAFT and its R&D laboratory, and braking systems with Le Bélier.
