Agro Business : an important agricultural portfolio

As the world’s leading producer of AOC (controlled-origin) fine wines, the region has developed a number of fields of excellence in the domain of industrial agri-food. One business in five enjoys the position of European or national leader.

Supported by a competitiveness cluster the sector benefits from numerous innovative projects in the field of nutrition and food safety. Areas of excellence include : corn, fruit and vegetable preserving, fats and oil products and polyphenols.

With turnover in the region of €9 billion and almost 30,000 employees, this sector accounts for over a third of the region’s exports and three quarters of its trading surplus.

Its technology transfer units are among the most innovative in France.
