Venture Capital and Regional Investment Capital

The region benefits from a plethora of public and private venture capital and investment capital companies, as well leading consultancy firms and merchant banks.

Examples of funding organisations the BRA works with include :

  • Regional Participation Institute (IRDI) : involved in the various components of investment capital for large scale projects.
  • Sud Ouest Capital Risk Innovation (SOCRI) : as a venture capital company for Aquitaine and Midi-Pyrenees regions, the SOCRI finances the projects of innovative companies less than 7 years’ old.
  • Expanso Capital (Galia Gestion) : local venture capital company ;
  • Grand Sud Ouest Capital, Fortis Banque, Banque Populaire du Sud Ouest : venture capital companies for innovative industrial projects.
  • Aquitaine Creation Innovation (ACI) : a venture capital company providing funds for “small” projects containing some risk, set-ups and innovation development.
  • Fa Dièse : Private start-up fund for financing innovative businesses in their initial stages.
  • Aquitaine amorcage : dedicated to innovative projects,
  • Fonds Aquitain de Garantie : guarantee designed to boost the creation and development of business and facilitate access to funding.
  • Aerofund : the Aquitaine and Midi Pyrenees regions have put a specific range of funding in place specific to capital risk for businesses signed up to the Competitiveness pole in the aeronautic sector with less than 500 employees.
