World Competitiveness Cluster (Aquitaine and Midi-Pyrénées regions) aims to maintain and consolidate its position as an international leader in aeronautics, space and embedded systems.
The ambition of this competitiveness cluster is to become the reference in development and promotion of innovative optics and laser technologies (laser systems and applications, metrology and imaging, innovative physics) in various industrial sectors (aeronautics, health, vision, chemicals, electronics…).
Organised around two regional clusters, the Aquitaine Wind Energy Cluster and Sysolia (Aquitaine Industrial Solar Systems), the renewable energy sector is booming. Two other activities are also emerging: biomass and geothermal energy.
The objective of this competitiveness cluster is to achieve a level of international excellence in the following sectors and processes:
This competitiveness cluster has the ambition of preparing for the energy transitions through sustainable exploitation of underground resources by responsible development of fossil resources, geological CO2 storage, underground energy storage and industrial geothermal energy.
In the construction and public works sector, this is the cluster for eco-materials and sustainable construction systems through the joint design and sustainable use of building materials and systems and maintenance, management and recycling of structures at the end of their life.
With no less than 3,700 companies and 23,000 jobs, Bordeaux and its region is one of the leading French regions in the ICT sector:
Thanks to its Health ICT cluster, Bordeaux is asserting its national leadership in health IT and medical imaging: it now represents over 50% of the national workforce in the sector and of national turnover. Three other clusters are currently being created: medical equipment, implants and biomaterials and pharmacy.
