Merck-Serono and SAFT bolster their Gironde sites

Two industrial sites in Gironde, Merck-Serono and the SAFT, have attracted new investment.
Pharmaceuticals company MERCK-SERONO, a subsidiary of German group MERCK and specialized in the development of biological molecules (recombinant proteins, hormones), is set to benefit from a program of subsidies to the tune of €30 million. 45 new jobs should be created. New manufacturing processes will be started up.
The SAFT, based in Bordeaux, where a growing proportion of the French firm’s research potential working on new-generation batteries is concentrated, is set to bring 40 more engineers and technicians to its Bordeaux site thanks to an investment of €3.7 million.
