As part of its strategy of maintaining its drive and pulling power, the Bordeaux region is concentrating its considerable energies on developing its green business, whilst at the same time continuing to diversify into new fields of activity.
The venture is already taking shape at the start of this year with the creation of a network of eco-businesses, which are concentrated around the major development cluster located in Bordeaux commune Blanquefort.
The Bordeaux Ecopark covers 350 hectares, of which 50 are currently available for new occupation. An established industrial park, sometime location for Bordeaux’s Ford plant, it is now re-launched upon a new and promising career as home to eco-businesses, starting with the setting-up of a cluster of wind generation companies.
More than that, the Ecoparc is organized like an efficient campus, around an R&D and training facility dedicated to renewable energy and eco-construction. Set up in January 2010, the Ecoparc Nursery will initially promote and encourage around ten young innovative businesses in this field.
