The urban makeover that Bordeaux has undergone over these last few years seems to have turned it into a business tourism destination in a class of its own after Paris, Cannes and Lyon.
Over the last 10 years, the hotel district has grown by nearly 10% and is scoring an ever-increasing occupancy rate. Congrès et Expositions Bordeaux, which operates at three locations here, has handled 1,320,000 guests and 9,025 exhibitors over 304 events in 2008 (7% up on 2007).
Business in 2009 is holding up well, with VINEXPO already a sell-out.
